Boss Realms
Boss realms are typically small realms in which Spyro fights a boss.
In Spyro the Dragon, boss realms are similar to other realms in that they contain gems, dragons, and standard enemies. Defeating the boss is not necessary to advance to the next homeworld. They are distinct from ordinary realms in that they are home to a specific native boss. Spyro usually encounters the boss toward the end of the realm, and pursues the boss through a portion of the realm, attacking it along the way until it is defeated.
In subsequent games, Boss Realms consist of arenas or enclosed areas, where Spyro is trapped until he can defeat the boss associated with the realm. Spyro must defeat the boss in order to advance to the next homeworld, and no collectibles are found in these boss realms. The battle begins immediately, and occurs in the same general location the entire time, although the nature of the attacks Spyro and the boss use against one another sometimes varies during the course of the battle.
