Death Hounds

Death Hounds are reptomammalian Animals that only appear in The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night. They usually attack Spyro by ramming him in a blink of an eye, so be careful not to get surrounded. They are part reptile part mammal but they do make sounds like dogs.

Breeds

One breed of Death Hound are seen under the command of the Apes during the raid on the Dragon Temple.

Another breed of the Hound are wild and reside in the Ancient Grove, where they have nothing to do with the Apes.

The third kind of Death Hound reside in the Mountain of Malefor, equipped with saddles as a sign that the Apes are riding them as mounts.

In one of the Dragon Challenges that take place in Concurrent Skies, another kind of Death Hound appear, but takes on a more whiter color than their other counterparts in the game.

Trivia

  • How the Death Hounds got their name is somewhat a mystery. It may be because of their bloodthirsty drive or maybe they contain some powerful venom in their teeth or mouths.
  • While they are called hounds, the Death Hounds are more of reptile-mammalian animals than just mammalian. Besides their fur, they have scaly spots and forked tongues much like lizards.
