Dark Armies

The Dark Master's Army seems to be an alliance of several races, with the Apes may have been the first race to be loyal to him.However, it was later revealed that the Apes weren't truly loyal to Malefor since they only served him for their greed and thirst for power. They were later punished by their master, who turned them into Shadow Apes.

The races of this dark alliance included the corrupted spirits of the deceased who were freed from the Well of Souls during the Night of Eternal Darkness. In The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon, a new race was introduced as Malefor's minions called Grublins, replacing the Apes. The exact size of his army is unknown, it might been at its largest during the time Cynder was in Command, there is two reasons for this is possible:

• They may have been an army build up due to there being no major war or threat to them.

• When the Dark Master returned, he used more powerful beings in huge numbers, under the Apes.

Its territorial height may been under Cynder as much the World was under her control.
