In ''Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!'', Gulp is the second boss, and he is fought at [[Gulp's Overlook]] in [[Autumn Plains]]. Like with Crush, [[Spyro the Dragon|Spyro]] needs to have collected every [[Talisman]] in Autumn Plains before he can fight Gulp. Gulp first appears in the intro alongside Ripto and Crush. Here, Gulp is not wearing his laser cannons, and Ripto is seen riding on his back. [[Zoe]] grabs Ripto's scepter, and Gulp tries to eat her but ends up eating the scepter by accident instead. Later, when [[Spyro the Dragon|Spyro]] enters [[Crush's Dungeon]] for the first time, Gulp is seen in a flashback scene where [[Elora]] tells Spyro about how Crush, Ripto, and Gulp ended up in [[Avalar]]. It shows that after [[Hunter]] entered his birthday as the coordinates for the [[Professor]]'s [[Super Portal]], Ripto enters Avalar, and both Crush and Gulp land on top of him. As the [[Fairy|Fairies]] take off with the [[Orb]]s to scatter them throughout Avalar, Ripto commands Gulp and Crush to take the Orbs from them, but they are unsuccessful. When Spyro enters Gulp's Overlook for the first time, a scene is shown where Ripto is about to feed Zoe to Gulp as a reward, but Spyro arrives on time to rescue Zoe, and the boss fight begins. Gulp starts off with ten units of health. Throughout the battle, Gulp tries to charge into Spyro and land onto him. Gulp also tries to shoot light green laser balls at Spyro, and as Gulp takes more damage, he shoots out an increasing number of them at a quicker pace. To attack Gulp, Spyro must utilize various weapons that appear from eggs dropped by pterodactyls; this includes either charging a metal barrel at Gulp, using his [[flame]] attack on a bomb at him, or spitting out a small rocket at him. Gulp is capable of eating the weapons—if Gulp eats either a metal barrel or a bomb, he unleashes a wave of energy balls, but if Gulp eats a rocket he spits it out, and the rocket trails after Spyro around the arena. Eventually Spyro manages to defeat Gulp after hitting him ten times.

In the epilogue of the original [[PlayStation]] version, Gulp is shown living a new life at the Society for the Protection of Abused Zoo. The graphic shows a [[Gemcutter]], a [[Hippo]], and a [[Baby Turtle]] riding on his back.

In ''[[Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly]]'', Gulp makes an appearance in two different cutscenes. He first appears during the opening cutscene along with Ripto and Crush. When Spyro asks Ripto what he wants, Gulp repeats the question to Ripto, who then angrily tells Gulp that he was not hired to think. In his threat, Ripto reveals that he originally found Gulp and Crush at [[Molten Crater]], unemployed. Later, after Spyro completes [[Cloud 9]], another cutscene is shown with Gulp, Crush, and Ripto. In it, Gulp does not have any speaking lines, and Ripto zaps both Gulp and Crush when he discovers that the [[Dragonfly|Dragonflies]] are missing.

In ''[[Spyro 2: Season of Flame]]'', Gulp is featured as the second boss, just like in ''Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!'', and is fought at the end of [[Celestial Plains]]. Gulp retains his rocket launchers, but they are now attached to a metal shell on his back. To battle Gulp, Spyro needs to have rescued at least 50 [[Firefly (Season of Flame)|Fireflies]] and then enter the [[portal]] to [[Starry Plains]]. In doing so, Spyro is taken to a lava arena where he must fight Gulp.

Like Crush, Gulp retains the ability to speak in full sentences. Before the battle begins, Gulp acts satisfied with Crush's defeat so that Ripto can make him second in command of all the realms. When Gulp notices Spyro, he laughs at him and calls it a "big mistake" for Spyro to face off against him. Gulp boasts about his impenetrable armor but admits that it makes it difficult for him to move around.

During the battle, Gulp attacks by firing homing rockets at Spyro. Because of his armor, Gulp is unaffected by Spyro's usual attacks. The only way for Spyro to attack Gulp is by picking up a homing rocket after it runs out of fuel and then throwing it at Gulp. Spyro must do this a total of four times to defeat Gulp. When Gulp is defeated, his metal armor breaks, and he is upset that he lost to Spyro again. Similar to when Crush was defeated, Gulp tells Spyro that he is too late at stopping Ripto as he is nearly done with his [[Ripto's Volcano|volcanic lair]]. Gulp then vanishes within an explosion.

In ''[[Spyro Orange: The Cortex Conspiracy]]'', Gulp is fought as the second boss alongside Crush at the end of [[Arctic Cliffs]]. Throughout the entire battle, Gulp is hovering in midair by using his metallic armor, which he retains from ''Spyro 2: Season of Flame'' albeit with a different purpose, while utilizing two antennae to create blasts of electricity to throw at Spyro. Before Spyro can attack Gulp, he must hit Crush three times. After doing so, Crush begins to hold up his shield, and Spyro can attack Gulp by tricking him into shooting an electric blast onto Crush's shield, causing it to bounce back at him. Spyro wins the battle once Gulp has taken three hits.

In ''[[Crash Team Rumble]]'', Gulp serves as one of the arena hazards for [[Artisans Arena]]. When activated, he assists the team who summoned him by firing laser blasts down on the opposing team and cause earthquakes that inflict damage when they're on the ground.
