Response[edit]

Apology, brought back from your summary because I wanted to be careful what you said in the summary. I was initially afraid that it was the wrong act of your actions, but after carefully analyzing what you said, than I realized what you said. I sincerely apologise for it and I wish you good luck in creating separate articles for Legend counterparts (characters, games, etc.). Truly apologise.

It is alright. I understand the caution. Thanks, I'll do my best in helping out this wiki. ^^ -- Aura24 (talk) 10:10, August 29, 2023 (UTC)
Oh, by the way, I forgot to mention that I made some very small grammatical corrections, but I also thought about thinking whether should be a present or past tense grammar regarding the sub-section of "Crash Bandicoot: On the Run". Past tense maybe, but I also thought about that present grammar may possibly work better. If you disagree, than OK, but if opposite, than perhaps I would consider to do it on the same way for this and other articles, but currently I am busy with other things, so perhaps for another time. As for "Skylanders", I agree that the franchise is very different than solo "Spyro" franchise, despite having some few similarities and elements between them, thus the former has a loose connection with the latter. As far as I know, there is a separate, different "Skylanders" wiki regarding those games.
Yes I'm aware. I'm the main admin of the Skylanders Wikia too. Legend Spyro, Skylanders Spyro and Skylanders Academy Spyro all have different origins and characteristics that makes them too different from the OG/Reignited Spyro. I figured pages for them all here would help differientate them for online users. But at the moment, I'm talking with the current owner of this wiki and see if we can sort out this out, or keep all info on all Spyros on one page like before. -- Aura24 (talk) 10:54, August 29, 2023 (UTC)

welcome...?[edit]

I remember offering you to come here in 2019, which you didn't want. Now you decided to join? Weird. Anyway, I'm not going to provide direct service to anyone on these wikis. I'm going to help the site proprietor, tacopill, by reconstructing the wiki structure and layout (sections, categories, templates, etc.) Results May Vary (talk) 18:14, December 9, 2023 (UTC)

Oh hello, I don't think I recall talking with you back in 2019, it has been a while. I'm thinking of moving to the fandom wiki over to this one soon after Fandom's been sinking lower and lower with ideas of AI generated answers on articles, forcing Discussions tabs and cluttered ads all over the place recently. I'm actually already in the talks with the discord members of grifkuba and this Spyro Wiki. -- Aura24 (talk) 00:34, December 10, 2023 (UTC)
We're in the process of moving servers, but after that, we're going to be importing some of the content from Fandom/Wikia. Tacopill (talk) 00:49, December 10, 2023 (UTC)
Well, I'm not getting involved in the merge. I'm going to finish up restructuring Jiggy & Conker's article/category structure (possibly template too, I think) to something more advanced than before, then I'll do some here. Ironically i regret creating this site (I wish tacopill did instead), though i digress. Results May Vary (talk) 03:06, December 10, 2023 (UTC)
I would appreciate you authoring a manual of style, hopefully one that's better than mine. Just overwrite everything I ever did, even if it makes things look a lot different. I'm not part of this community in any way, shape, or form. Results May Vary (talk) 01:58, December 13, 2023 (UTC)
And while I am a pretty cranky person nowadays, I won't try to get in the way of the wiki. At least you're not fully reverting some of the edits I did, which I'm appreciate of. Hope the wiki goes well for you. Results May Vary (talk) 02:49, December 13, 2023 (UTC)
Don't worry, I actually have a Manual of Style ready, I'll have it posted here soon for users to follow. I'll look after this wiki with the best of my ability and with others' help. ^^ -- Aura24 (talk) 03:04, December 13, 2023 (UTC)
Thank you. To put it short, I have a history, which is why I'm not often in a good mood around these places. Crazy thing is the GBA Spyro games made me think of doing the wiki, as well as GBA games for the Crash wiki. I didn't grow up with same attachment to the original PlayStation games though. However, I thought you were mad at me for trying to overhaul the wiki, so I exaggerated (keyword) that I wasn't much into Spyro outside of the GBA games or thought I'd call not as manly as Donkey Kong (my real favorite franchise). It's a dumb defense, trying to say you dislike something that you don't have as much of an attachment to as other things when you think someone is not happy at you. Results May Vary (talk) 03:12, December 13, 2023 (UTC)
I was honestly mostly confused since the changes you were making weren't discussed beforehand. When it comes to attachment, it's best to stick around places or healthy communities you enjoy being around and not in areas where you are less interested in. -- Aura24 (talk) 03:32, December 13, 2023 (UTC)
That's because I'm not on Discord (which is a big distraction with pings/notifs and lots of channels, so i thought people would pay little attention). Wikis are mostly barren with discussion nowadays, so I figured "okay maybe this shoooould be okay to do." I've been doing this on the other wikis I founded/forked (pretty much completed Jiggy & Conker) as some type of closure or something. Results May Vary (talk) 03:42, December 13, 2023 (UTC)
Oh, well, if there are any changes planned in mind for this wiki, I'll be consulting with the other members on discord and/or on here too. :) -- Aura24 (talk) 09:31, December 13, 2023 (UTC)

the format[edit]

Last month, I know we had some conflict over the format and Manual of Style. I found it kind of interesting that what originated as me doing a Super Mario Wiki replication of the format ended up as you pretty much forking your own version of it unique to this wiki (in line with how Spyro individual series follow their own continuity).

A bit of embarrassing history that I think the whole wiki space wants to forget (except me) is that I wanted the format EVERYWHERE. Nobody was as obsessed over it as I was. I was like "okay, I'm mainly mad at Fandom because they got rid of Monobook," but then if someone had a wiki that used Timeless, Vector, so forth, it was just as good as using Fandom. It began kind of innocuously, with me creating Conker Wiki, then I got Jiggywikki off with community help, and lastly I wanted Rare Wiki to pick up where the Fandom RareWiki left off, especially as that was a spinoff project of Super Mario Wiki in 2007 (I, to this day, NEED those days to come back asap, as I've never aged out of it!!!).

The definition of "independent" is relative: if a wiki wasn't styled after Super Mario Wiki (at the time, as it's now unbearable), it was basically not independent to me. I loved the flexible format or how I felt I could use my imagination while designing articles. I actually didn't want a rigid layout/style guide, but rather a "recommended" one (but the sorting info by game would still be consistent, regardless), so that people won't always have to see the same layout when browsing through articles.

"Gaming Wiki Network" was basically an easy way to keep a lot of the wikis I was working on in check. Someone wanted to make a Discord server of it, and I was like "huh? ok..."

Now I'll spare the personal experiences and community conflicts, but I remember I wanted GWN to be focused on Western game franchises over Nintendo ones (save for few exceptions), to preserve its own identity. But at the same time, there were issues me and others had with places like SmashWiki (a big part of why SMW held on to Smash Bros content for so long), Pokemon, Metroid, and ofc Zelda, if it wasn't a precise replication of the format. Some folks were still in agreement while sticking to the main wikis that they edit.

Going to the lengths of tackling other Nintendo franchise wikis was canceled (at least in those circles). I didn't have the funds to keep hosting, and there was no way Grifkuba would've hosted them. But had it ever gone that far, it would have probably been just an "Other Nintendo wikis" footer on the main page, not an inclusion within GWN.

Hope this bit of history helps. Results May Vary (talk) 22:09, January 17, 2024 (UTC)
