Vathek is an Undead dragon and the main antagonist of Dragon's Peak in the console versions of Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. He is the evil brother of the current Dragon King, Ramses.
Character Development
Toys For Bob originally planned Spyro's Adventure to have one dragon Skylander per element. Vathek was set to be the Undead dragon Skylander of the roster; however the way he was created had him walking on his front winged arms and it created a lot of animation challenges. Vathek's slow lumbering form didn't feel responsive or powerful enough. By that point, I-Wei Huang had done some great illustrations of a character named Cynder, who was set as a ready replacement for Vathek.[1]

3DS Version
Although having no specific role in the Dragon's Peak area, Vathek flew through the skies of The Wingwarrens as the Skylander made their way through the lands. At the top of the Peak, Vathek appeared and engaged the Skylander in battle, with the Skylander emerging victorious.
Boss Fight (3DS Version Only)
As the boss fight between Vathek and the Skylander commences, the Skylander's primary and secondary attacks do little damage to the Undead dragon.
