Spike is the Boss for Midday Gardens in Spyro: Year of the Dragon, he is fought in the level Spike's Arena.

The Battle

To attack Spike at the start, charge into the giant magma balls that Sgt. James Byrd drops and aim them at Spike.

After a while, James will start to drop red orbs - Walk over to eat them, and Spyro can use a powered up flame. Spike is able to grab red orbs with his gun, and shoot out a flaming wall to you, but the best way to avoid this-- is by jumping over it.

After more damage, James will then drop blue orbs - After taking these, Spyro will shoot them out and they will swirl around in the direction it is launched. Spike can gain this ammunition and create a double helix that will follow you. the best way to avoid this is by running away.
