Insomniac Games is a video game developing company. It is the company that originally developed the first three Spyro games, but is noted that they never owned the rights to the Spyro series. They developed the original Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon.
Insomniac Games announced after the release of Year of the Dragon that they would not create anymore Spyro games, marking the end of what some fans considered the "golden age" of Spyro games. Insomniac Games is known for other game series such as Ratchet & Clank and their friendly relationship with Naughty Dog game developers, who developed the Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Daxter series. [1]
