Desert Ruins is the location of the tomb of the Stone Golem, and a top location for treasure hunters. When Spyro arrived, he encountered the famous explorer Tara Kroft (a play on the name Lara Croft) and her skittish boyfriend Gus. The level is filled with deadly Scorpions of all shapes and sizes, as well as acidic water. Sheila and Hunter can also be found on this level.
Enemies
Two different scorpions are found on the level that act as enemies. Small, dark scorpions have the ability to move around and chase Spyro, as well as shoot lasers from their tails to harm him. Larger, orange scorpions also exist, though they are stationary. They can create a wave of fire to harm Spyro, and fire is the only way to defeated them. There are also multiple men made of metal that stand only on metal platforms. They cannot move, but can make the metal platforms so hot that they harm Spyro; they can only be defeated by using the ram attack.
In a sub-world, rhynocs riding motorized sharks are also faced. They can only be defeated by riding Hunter's pet manta ray armed with two cannons.
