Story

After Spyro and Cynder assisted the Cheetahs in fighting off the Grublins from their village, the two dragons volunteered to retrieve a missing village member named Meadow when the leader of the cheetahs, Prowlus, refused to undergo an immediate search. Spyro and Cynder searched the Valley of Avalar until they discovered a cave behind the nearby waterfall and stumbled upon the captured Meadow and initiated a Grublin ambush. After defeating the group of Grublins, Meadow revealed that his leg was broken as a result of being captured, and tasked Spyro and Cynder to bring a raft to him that required the key from a hermit in order to use Adamantine Orbs to unlock the raft.

Spyro and Cynder ventured to the other side of the Valley to look for the Hermit, but once there, they encountered a swarm of skeleton-like creatures covered in shadow. After defeating them, the Hermit revealed himself to Spyro and Cynder, but he recognized Cynder as the evil black dragon from A New Beginning, warning Cynder of a fate she may very well suffer for being in service to Malefor, and that The Dark Master would find her for betraying him. This prompted Cynder to feel extremely upset about this, and both she and Spyro walked away from the Hermit, not wanting to hear anymore of his words. Fortunately, Spyro and Cynder's mission didn't go in vain, as Sparx managed to swipe the key from the Hermit without him knowing, allowing the three to continue on their mission to help Meadow get back to the Cheetah Village.

Upon their return, and seeing Meadow safe and sound, Prowlus apologized to Hunter for his actions and offered Hunter the use of the Forbidden Tunnel to reach Warfang. In return, Hunter offered an invitation to Prowlus that he was welcome to join them at any time. The cheetah warrior, Spyro and Cynder then departed for the Forbidden Tunnel and made their way out of the Valley of Avalar to the Dragon City of Warfang.
