Template:Characterbox (Skylanders) Template:SkylandersWikia Template:Q Vathek is an undead dragon and the main antagonist of Dragon's Peak in Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. He is the evil brother of the King, Ramses.
Personality
Vathek is known as a horrible, evil dragon who always wanted to be king of Dragon's Peak. When his brother, Ramses, was throned as king instead, Vathek sought out to claim the Dragon's Throne for himself, even willing to betray his own brother to achieve his goal. When positioned as king of Dragon's Peak, he becomes strongly dependent on the Dragon Throne. Instead of confronting the Skylander directly, Vathek uses the Throne's power to summon the creatures who are loyal to the Dragon King to deal with those who oppose him, until the evil dragon decided to deal with the Skylander himself as a last resort when the minions failed to stop them.
Abilities
Although not demonstrating his powers in the console versions, Vathek possesses the ability to blast fireballs in the 3DS version of Spyro's Adventure.
Story
Vathek is an evil dragon who some fear may one day steal the Dragon's Throne to rule as King. One day, while Flavius was flying with Ramses, Vathek took the chance to sit on the Throne, in which he who sits on the throne rules all of Dragon's Peak. With the power of the Dragon Throne, Vathek became king of the Peak and betrayed Ramses, turning his brother into stone.
When the Skylander confronts Vathek, the evil dragon sends his henchmen to destroy them, but after even summoning more enemies with the power of the Dragon's Throne, the Skylander manages to defeat them all. Vathek then decides to confront the Skylander himself and engage them in battle, leaping off of the Dragon Throne. Before Vathek can begin his attack on the Skylander, Flavius appears and takes the Throne, using its power to turn Vathek to stone as punishment for betraying Ramses. Afterwards, Ramses sadly ponders on what to do with Vathek, at first suggesting banishment, but dismisses the idea when Flavius mentions that the frozen Vathek makes a "good statue".
3DS Version
Although having no specific role in the Dragon's Peak area, Vathek is seen flying through the skies of The Wingwarrens as the Skylander makes their way through the lands. At the top of the Peak, Vathek appears and engages the Skylander in battle, with the Skylander emerging victorious.
Boss Fight (3DS Version Only)
As the boss fight between Vathek and the Skylander commences, the Skylander's primary and secondary attacks do little damage to the Undead dragon. To deliver bigger damage, they will have to fire at the bombs and sheep that slide into the arena by the waterfalls on the side to send them flying at Vathek to damage him. However, Vathek will occasionally blast fireballs at the Skylanders and will often shield himself with his wings to protect himself from the projectiles, so you'll have to launch the projectiles at the right time when the evil dragon lowers his wings to attack. Once he is inflicted with enough damage, Vathek will be defeated.

Trivia
- Unlike most dragons throughout the Spyro series, Vathek resembles a wyvern, a winged reptilian creature.
- He also speaks with a snake-like lisp, unlike other dragons in the series.
- At one point, Vathek was originally planned to be a Skylander in Spyro's Adventure, but the role of the Undead Dragon Skylander was already taken by Cynder.
- The developers also concluded that the Undead element was the element Vathek would fit best in.
- Although the Skylander doesn't battle Vathek in the console versions, they will be able to battle against him in the 3DS version of Spyro's Adventure.
- Vathek and Hektore are the only bosses in the 3DS version of Spyro's Adventure.
- Although both Ramses and Vathek are brothers, they are both completely different (Ramses being a four-legged dragon and being very much alive, and Vathek being an Undead wyvern-like dragon), which makes some fans curious to how the two dragons are related.
- Vathek shares some similarities to Scar, the main antagonist in Disney's The Lion King. Both characters are brothers to the current king of their respective kingdoms and plotted to seize the throne to become king themselves by betraying their own brothers; a diabolical, similar plan in which they both succeeded.
