Zook hails from a strange species who once lived their enitire lives standing in one spot until Zook discovered they could walkssimply by stepping out of the mud. After that, he became a wandering hero, using his bamboo tube as a bazooka that fires explosive thorns. Campfire songs were even written about him, although Zook would have preferred some nice haiku poetry if given a chance.
