- Before fans knew of Whirlwind's name, she was nicknamed as the 'Wind Dragon'.
- Whirlwind's early promotional title in her Toy Fair 2011 debut was called 'Tempest Dragon'.
- Whirlwind is the fifth female playable character in the Spyro series (the first being Sheila, the second being Cynder, the third being Stealth Elf, the fourth being Sonic Boom, and the fifth being Hex.)
- She is also the second female playable dragon with different abilities than Spyro (the first being Cynder).
- Most fans prefer Whirlwind's testing name, Stormee.
