Gill Grunt

Personality

Template:Q Not much is currently known about Gill Grunt's personality, but it is mentioned that he is one fish that never lets evil off the hook. He is good friends with Spyro and Trigger Happy.

Abilities

Wielding a harpoon gun, Gill Grunt can shoot harpoons and also launch torrents of water at his enemies. He can also use his jet pack to hover in the air.

Gill Grunt is a mobile ranged attacker character. His Harpoon Gun is extremely accurate and has a long range, making him proficient at sniping off enemies before they even notice the Skylanders. His Power Hose allows him to get into the thick of a fight and gives him some protection against enemies who close distance on him. His upgrade paths allow him to either improve the power of his Harpoon Gun for better long-range combat or his Water Jetpack and Power Hose for improved close-range combat.

In the online game it is rare when he has a special ability in activities like castle assault(water spikes go in every direction and cannot be stopped when boosted),ground defense(all enemies get stunned and does damage to enemies when frozen),sky defense(create a glacier in the sky stunning and damaging enemies in range.

Biography

Gill Grunt was a brave soul who joined the Gillmen military in search of adventure. While journeying through a misty lagoon in the clouds, he met an enchanting mermaid. He vowed to return to her after his tour. Keeping his promise, he came back to the lagoon years later, only to learn a nasty band of pirates had kidnapped the mermaid. Heartbroken, Gill Grunt began searching all over Skylands. Though he had yet to find her, he joined the Skylanders to help protect others from such evil, while still keeping an ever-watchful eye for the beautiful mermaid and the pirates who took her.

Role

Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure

Gill Grunt participated in the battle against Kaos' minions along with some of the other Skylanders to protect the Core of Light, taking out two Cyclops Choppers and a Goliath Drow. When Kaos' Hydra ultimately destroyed the Core of Light, Gill Grunt, along with the other Skylanders, were banished from Skylands to Earth where they were turned into toys, and waited for the new Portal Master to find him.

After Kaos was defeated, Gill Grunt, Spyro, and Trigger Happy were present at the Core of Light with Flynn, Cali, Hugo, and Master Eon, listening to Kaos' idle threats in his temporary prison. The three Skylanders all shared a knowing glance to one another, as Kaos rambled on vowing to keep returning to conquer Skylands if he was to be banished to the Outlands again. Instead Kaos was banished to Earth, and shortly after his departure, Gill Grunt, along with Spyro and Trigger Happy, celebrated their victory together.

Skylanders: The Beginning

Template:Q Gill Grunt was with his friend, Spyro, on the other side of Skylands, gazing up to the skies while partly listening to Spyro's suggestions on what they should do today. The Gillman was the one who first noticed Kaos' approach in the form of evil storm clouds, and he and Spyro hurried to the Core of Light to get the other Skylanders together. Once there, Gill Grunt took part in the battle for Skylands, fighting against Kaos' army. However, a Troll managed to take away his harpoon gun, rendering Gill Grunt vulnerable. As a feline enemy prepared to strike the Gillman with an axe, Cynder saves Gill Grunt from the attack.

Despite their best efforts, the Skylanders were overpowered by Kaos' army. Gill Grunt and Spyro were pinned down and could only watch in horror as Kaos destroys the Core of Light; its destruction sending the Skylanders out of Skylands and into the void of space. Gill Grunt, along with the other Skylanders, were turned into toys upon entering Earth's atmosphere and were found by a human boy, who also finds Spyro, Trigger Happy, and the other heroes. When Spyro regains consciousness, Gill Grunt happily calls out to his purple friend along with Trigger Happy, and points out the Portal of Power nearby that can take them back to Skylands to fight Kaos. As Spyro enters Skylanders through the Portal of Power, Gill Grunt cheers the purple dragon on in his fight to save Skylands...

Trivia

• Despite being one of the Skylanders who can speak English, Gill Grunt still has one of his original gibberish lines. Toys for Bob claims they couldn’t part with that particular line because more than a few of the developers were known to walk around the office saying it for many months.
• Gill Grunt is the only Skylander from the console starter pack who doesn't have a Legendary counterpart.
