The hidden arena

The Impossible Arena Glitch is a glitch in Spyro: Year of the Dragon.

By performing the Swim in the Air Glitch in Dino Mines, the player can find an unused portal behind one of the cliff walls. Entering the portal leads the player to an unused sub-level of Dino Mines, shaped like an arena. There are no objects in this area except for an invisible exit portal located in the middle of the platform.

Upon exiting the area, the player will either repeatedly fall to their death or return to the area on the other side of the cliff. It is often speculated that this is where the player was supposed to exit the portal, had the area been used in the final game.

Trivia

  • In early versions of the game, there is an Atlas entry in Dino Mines for an egg called "The Bailey Gang's last stand". This is most likely the egg that would have been obtainable in this sub-level. This string is even present in very late versions of the game, suggesting that the choice to remove this area was made very late in development. In the final game, the egg was replaced with the "Take it to the bank" egg.
