Gliding is one of Spyro's main abilities in every Spyro game. Before he can glide, Spyro first has to jump in midair. Gliding allows Spyro to get across wide gaps and reach distant areas, although this depends on the altitude where Spyro has jumped. Some gaps are slightly too wide for Spyro to only glide across, so just before reaching the end of one, Spyro can hover to gain a little more distance and land onto the platform in front of him. Whenever Spyro hovers, he then stops gliding afterward.
