Pop Fizz is one of the main protagonists of the Skylanders spin-off television series, Skylanders Academy.
Background
Personality
Pop Fizz is unstable and easily distracted, but kind. However, he isn't afraid of speaking his mind and is unconcerned with what other people think of him, and will do actions or search for things of his interest without hesitating. Despite his role as a professor and Skylander, he has no qualms about cheating.
As seen in Season 2, Pop Fizz is a much more popular professor than Jet-Vac, as he helps his students with difficult subjects even out of class, and allows them to take tests multiple times if needed. Because of this, he is highly sought after for assignments with seniors.
Abilities
Before using them for heroic efforts, Pop Fizz used concoctions to play music, as well as playing the tuba. However, after being recruited as a Skylander, he can mix them to attack or create cures, though as of Season 1 the full extent of his abilities is unknown. He also carries around a bagpipe made out of multiple instruments, including a horn and tuba, that can be played to counteract other musical spells such as Wolfgang's.
Story
History
Before his days as a Skylander, over 20 years before the events of the show, Pop Fizz was in a music band with Wolfgang called "Pop and the Gang". However the two had a fallout when Wolfgang's ego corrupted him, leading the werewolf to commit terrible deeds using his hypnotic music. Pop Fizz left the band afterwards, later becoming a Skylander and a professor at Skylanders Academy.
Season 1
In Skylanders Unite!, Pop Fizz was one of the partygoers invited to Spyro's premature graduation party at the Team Spyro Home. He was later present during the Skylander graduation when Kaos snagged the Book of Skylanders and used his magic to freeze the book solid, immobilizing all Skylanders including Pop Fizz that were sketched within its pages. After Spyro defrosted the Book, the Skylanders, Pop Fizz, and Master Eon were freed, allowing them to defeat Kaos and throw him and Glumshanks out of Skylander Academy.
Though unknown to Eruptor, Spyro and Stealth Elf, Pop Fizz had been living under their house for some time. In My Way or the Sky Way, he reveals himself.
In Missing Links, the professor and the rest of Team Spyro repeatedly attempted the Fire Viper Training Simulation, but set a record for failure when one of his potions reacted suddenly and trapped the group in green foam. After a quick discussion at the Thinking Spot, the group and Eon accepted to call in King Pen to both solve their teamwork issues and relocate the Core of Light after Kaos discovered it, and the penguin brought in a Creation Crystal for the Skylander team to use.
When Team Spyro touched it, they were transported into the Imaginite crystal's realm to imagine their temporary teammate's appearance and powers. Pop Fizz, however, absent-mindedly started the process by giving the Imaginator a banana head, forcing the others to complete it, and thus, Cy was built. While the Skylanders played around with their new ally, King Pen explained Cy's ability to learn other powers quickly, before leaving the group to their own devices with Eon.
Season 2
In Thankstaking for the Memories, Eruptor was among the team who didn't want Spyro to come along on their Thankstaking Holiday; Eruptor's reasoning was because Spyro almost accidentally burned down their family house the previous year.
In Elementary, My Dear Eruptor, it is revealed that Eruptor was the student who received the highest score in the midterm exams, surpassing Spyro's high score. He and Team Spyro soon realized that Eruptor's ability to quickly solve cases by detecting and piecing out minuscule evidence is his intelligence's superpower. However, the reason why he withheld this ability was due to severe headaches, a side effect by his sight's extreme focus and ability to time warp. To counteract this, Sprocket invented special contact lenses for his eyes. The lenses worked, allowing Eruptor to find the culprit who kept stealing Eon's beard spray - a sheep.
With Eruptor's unique detective abilities, he was now able to figure out all of the Academy's secrets. When Team Spyro began investigating disturbances around Skylands, Eruptor came to the discovery that the villain Broccoli Guy was responsible, stealing the elements from the surrounding area. After finding an injured Snap Shot in the Swamplands, Eruptor volunteered to investigate the situation alone while the rest of Team Spyro help Snap Shot back to the Academy. Spyro tried to dissuade him into facing Broccoli Guy alone, worried for his safety. However Eruptor believed Spyro envied his new powers, adding with his hypocrisy that he knew Spyro's secret of stealing a book from the Relics Room and told no one. Frustrated, Spyro and the rest of the team left a boastful Eruptor to wander alone, following Kaos and Broccoli Guy's trail.
At Skylands Community College, Eruptor engaged a powerful Broccoli Guy to battle but ended up overpowered. He was soon resuced by Team Spyro After regaining back his strength, Eruptor offered an apology for being too arrogant with his abilities. They forgave his misbehavior and Eruptor decided to be his normal-self without the use of his new detective powers by destroying the contact lenses. In addition, he also intended on keeping Spyro's secret of stealing Dragon Book secret.
Season 3
In Power Struggle, Eruptor, along with the other Skylanders and cadets, were surprised to learn that Master Eon was related to the evil villain Kaos. After learning about their master's history with Strykore and Kaossandra, Team Spyro were tasked with finding Spyro and preparing for their fight against Strykore with Kaossandra, despite showing distrust against the sorceress. After saving King Pen from Strykore's clutches, Eruptor and the others were surprised to see Spyro return to the Academy, unaware that it was actually Dark Spyro pretending to be their old friend.
In A Traitor Among Us, Master Eon detected that a mole working for Strykore was stationed at the Academy and that it could be any one of them. Eruptor immediately assumed the mole was Kaossandra, based on his prejudice and recent sightings of Kaossandra attempting to contact someone all around the Academy. Despite a few objections to his claims from his friends, Eruptor planned to gather evidence to prove his case. While luring Kaossandra away in an attempt to distract her from the investigation, Kaossandra figured out Eruptor's intentions and the two got into an argument. This caused them to fall into a trap set by Trolls, who then dragged Eruptor and Kaossandra away to the Troll Dome, where every year, trolls gather their captives and force them into combat.
When they are eventually pitted against one another, Eruptor finally revealed to her that he and the Skylanders were trying to gain proof for his accusations that Kaossandra is the traitor, firmly declaring that he'll never trust her. After learning of the previous combatants, Eruptor and Kaossandra came to a hard agreement to cease their hostilites towards one another and find a way to escape. During their battle, they instinctively damaged the cell bars, creating a prison riot that overwhelmed their troll captors. Eruptor finally lets go of his prejudice and trust Kaossandra as they charge for freedom.
As they arrived at the Team Spyro home, Eruptor came to a realization that one of his friends might be the mole and it's something he wasn't ready to face. His doubts were diminished when Master Eon arrived to deliver the news that his beard sense detected a literal mole in the Academy, hiding at his beard salon. Eruptor soon afterwards expressed his apology to Stealth Elf for not believing her infallible instincts, with Stealth Elf expressing her gratitude.
In Days of Future Crash, Eruptor was working on his research paper and presentation on the Wumpa Islands but found himself unable to finish it. Dark Spyro came to check on Eruptor, and after hearing his plight, the dragon encourged him about the idea of going back in time using Jet-Vac's time disruptor to see Crash Bandicoot to help Eruptor with his reasearch paper. Eruptor was excited with the idea and decided to carry it out. As soon as they arrived in the timezone when Team Spyro was helping Crash Bandicoot get home, a mishap caused Eruptor and Dark Spyro to accidentally return to the present with Crash Bandcioot. This created a timeline in which Glumshanks assumed power after getting his hands on the Book of Dark Magic. Seeking another time remote control because theirs no longer had power, Eruptor, Dark Spyro and Crash journeyed to Kaossandra's Castle, now serving as a haven for Glumshanks.
Inside the castle, the trio encountered the alternative Kaos who served Glumshanks but also wanted to overthrow him. They retrieve the remote but Eruptor refused to leave the alternate Skylanders petrified at the mercy of Glumshanks. However they become captured by the evil troll until Kaos assisted them and defeated Glumshanks and his henchmen. The now freed Skylanders thanked Dark Spyro and Eruptor for saving them, especially the Stealth Elf alternative who appreciated them for being always there for her. Upon arriving at the present, everything was back to normal, but as the school bell rang, Eruptor realized he forgot to ask Crash about his research paper and is left without anything to write about.
In Split, Eruptor tried to talk through to Dark Spyro to see if the Spyro they knew was still in there. However Dark Spyro coldly told them that the Spyro they knew was gone and spewed the pea soup on Eruptor, insulting him. This angered Eruptor who was about to attack Dark Spyro, but the other Skylanders held him back.
Relationships
Wolfgang
Pop Fizz and Wolfgang were once good friends in their band "Pop and the Gang". When Wolfgang began using his music for evil, Pop Fizz broke all ties with his former friend and started hating the Doom Raider ever since. In a sharp contrast of his personality, Pop Fizz mood changes entirely when Wolfgang is the subject.
Profile
- “What do you get when you mix one part gremlin, one part mad scientist, and two parts crazy? From the sounds of it, one nasty concoction. But also Pop Fizz, the Skylanders’ resident alchemist! Pop Fizz is the very definition of a "wild card," a madcap mixer of magical potions who likes to test his creations on himself —without bothering to remember what’s in them. Was he born with blue skin, spiky hair, and a reckless, bonkers personality, or were those just side effects of one of his elixirs? Guess we’ll never know! On the plus side, Pop Fizz always has a potion for any given situation, whether it’s to turn invisible, transform into a bloodthirsty rage monster, or cure a bad case of the hiccups. Just remember, he’ll need to test it out first...”

Trivia
- Pop Fizz is one of the few characters to have kept his original voice actor from the games.
- In Pop Rocks, Pop Fizz said he was friends with the Bowling Scones and Jimi Matrix, who are parodies of the Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix. He also broke the fourth wall by saying "other band names that are protected under First Amendment parody rights".
- In Dream Girls, he says he had an annoying cousin named Mark.
- His fur is closer in color to his beast mode from the games, being a darker shade of blue.
- Pop Fizz, unlike his game counterpart, has mild Strabismus, with his left eye moved slightly to the right compared to his right eye, that focuses accurately where he looks. Pictures of his time as a cadet don't appear to have this condition, implying the eye misaligned during his time as a Skylander.
