Spyro breathing fire

Fire is the main weapon of Spyro, the other being charging. He is only capable of these two forms of attack until later in the series when other breath types are introduced such as ice, electricity and bubble.

The Evolution of Fire Breath

Original Spyro

Throughout the series, Spyro has been armed with the power to breath fire. In the Insomniac trilogy, Spyro's flame breath appear as fire arrows, but was later evolved into a blast of fire. This typical dragon ability has evolved over time to include mastery of other elements. These are Ice, Electricity, Earth, Bubble and Water. However, it was not until the Legend of Spyro series that the Fire Breath developed different abilities.

The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning

The Spyro series was re-imagined to allow primary and secondary elemental abilities. Fire was the basic breath, which became more powerful as it was upgraded. The secondary attack was the ability to hurl fire bombs that arched forward and exploded upon impact.

Primary Fire

• Fire Blast of the Blazing Skies - scorch the bad guys with a fuller, hotter breath that won't fizzle out.
• Fire Blast of the Scorched Earth - turn up the heat on your flames to see enemies run around with their pants on fire.
• Dragsooth's Fire Blast of the Eternal Inferno - this ultimate burning force explodes out of Spyro's mouth like a fiery volcano.

Secondary Fire

• Fire Bomb of Smoke and Flame - what's better than a fire bomb explosion? an even bigger one!
• Fire Bomb of Melting Magma - add power, sprinkle in some shrapnel and you've got a bomb with a nasty kick.
• Malak's Fire Bomb of the Burning Plains - break up the party for Cynder's goons with the mother of all explosions!

The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night

The primary fire breath could be upgraded to launch homing fire missiles along with the breath, whilst the secondary attack was the Comet Dash, a headlong rush and strike with fire.

Primary Fire

• Blazing Fire Blast - burn the bad guys with a fuller, hotter breath that won't fizzle out.
• Erupting Fire Blast - magical dragon whelps burst forth from the flames to seek out your enemies and roast them.
• Berylsythe's Fire Blast of Infernal Rain - stoke the ancient flames within Spyro to unleash this raging firestorm.

Secondary Fire

*Comet Dash

The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon

Spyro's Fire breath is much more stronger and his secondary attack retains the Comet Dash from The Eternal Night, a flaming, ramming attack unlocked by upgrading the fire element.

Skylanders

In Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure, Spyro's primary attack is Fire Breath, which is similar to Classic Spyro's Flame attack.
