The Chronicler is an ancient Dragon who is a keeper of the history of Dragons, which he writes in the Books of Time.

Personality

The Chronicler is over 1000 years old and has immeasureble wisdom. He also knows the past, present, and bits of the future of every Dragon ever born. He is a strong believer in destiny, that what has been written will happen. Some Dragons even question if he exists or not.

Story

The Eternal Night

The Chronicler was the one who summoned Spyro in a series of dreams so Spyro can reawaken his powers. He also informed Spyro about the Night of Eternal Darkness that was coming at the Mountain of Malefor.

Spyro eventually found The Chronicler at the White Isle, and he told Spyro about Gaul, an Ape King who led the raid at the Dragon Temple at the night of Spyro's birth and stole Cynder's egg. Spyro insisted The Chronicler on what will happen to Cynder and learned more about her past and where was she taken. The Chronicler also told Spyro about Malefor, the Dark Master. According to him, Malefor was the first purple Dragon to exist; his raw power allowed him to master practically every elemental power. When his growth failed to stop, he was exiled by the Dragon Elders, but after that, he built an army of Apes and taught them how to use Dragon magic. Malefor's sheer wage of his malice splitted the earth and created the Well of Souls; where the Apes have established, in effort to revive Malefor at the Night of Eternal Darkness. The Chronicler wanted Spyro to hide from the Apes until a later time, but Spyro insisted on going to Cynder’s aid, and The Chronicler showed Spyro the way to the Well of Souls.

Dawn of The Dragon

The Chronicler appeared again in Dawn of The Dragon but only as a minor character making only two appearences. His first appearence in the game was when Spyro and Cynder touched a green crystal to gather their strength after they were awakened from their three year slumber. He appeared as a hologram telling Spyro and Cynder of the elemental powers they possessed. His final appearence was at the end when his time as the Chronicler was over and he gave Ignitus his job. Before he did Ignitus asked what happened to Spyro. The Chronicler said he did his best in searching the book that records the deaths of all dragons but Spyro wasn't among them. The Chronicler is then engulfed in a bright light and disappears making Ignitus the new Chronicler as well as changing his color to a light blue.
