Malefor's Lair is the Dragon Temple that lies beyond The Floating Islands. It is located high on a platform on top of a volcano. Spyro and Cynder go there together to confront Malefor for the final battle to save the Dragon Realms.
The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon
While explaining to Spyro, Hunter mentioned that the Dragon Temple is in fact Malefor's Lair. After being ressurected, Malefor attacked the temple and reclaimed it, suspending it above the land as a symbol of his dominance. It is later destroyed when the Destroyer finishes completing its journey right as Spyro and Cynder were battling Malefor, splitting the world apart and also breaking about the Dragon Temple slowly into pieces.
