- Before fans knew of Whirlwind's name, she was nicknamed as the 'Wind Dragon'.
- Whirlwind's early promotional title in her Toy Fair 2011 debut was called 'Tempest Dragon'.
- Whirlwind is the fifth female playable character in the Spyro series (the first being Sheila, the second being Cynder, the third being Stealth Elf, and the fourth being Sonic Boom.)
- She is also the second female playable dragon with different abilities than Spyro (the first being Cynder).
- Most fans prefer Whirlwind's testing name, Stormee.
