Malefor (the Dark Master) was the first purple dragon to exist and was a gifted one. He mastered fire, ice, earth, electricity, and many other elements. The Elders willingly taught him how to master the elements, but his power was limitless, it knew no boundary, he consumed everything. When he would not stop, the Elders casted him to exile. After that, he built a new fortress and built an army of apes. He also taught the apes how to artificially harness the power of the gems, which was the dragons' lifeforce. His malice was so great, that it splited the earth and created the Mountain of Malefor, which is known as the Well of Souls. During the celestial moons' eclipse, Malefor's dark influnce took control of Spyro's mind and destroyed [[Gaul]]. After the eclipse, Malefor finally escaped from the Well of Souls and plagued the world. After three years of trapping within a crystal, Spyro and [[Cynder]] had finally awakened to stop Malefor from destroying the world.

He now seeks to escape from the Well of Souls and to wreak havoc upon the land.

One day, [[Gaul]], (a faithful servent of the Dark Master) and his dark army of apes, went to the Dragon Temple and to destroy all the dragon eggs, including the egg of the purple dragon from the prophecy, knowing that the purple dragon can stop the Dark Master and his armies. Gaul failed to find the egg because [[Ignitus]], the Dragon Guardian, took it. After that, Gaul decided to destroy the rest and take an egg for himself.
When the dragon was born, Gaul named the dragon "Cynder" and trained her. Under the influence of the Dark Master's poisonous powers, Cynder grew to adult size and strength quickly and became his weapon of destruction.
 
Gaul sent Cynder to go to the Dragon Realms to wreak havoc and try to find the purple dragon from the prophecy and destroy it.
Cynder, with all her might, wiped out the armies of dragons. All the dragons could do in the end was to hide underground.
One day, Cynder and Gaul found a way to bring the Dark Master back from the portal of Convexity. They need to harvest 4 Elements from Dragon Guardians in order to release the Dark Master. Cynder flew and weakened 3/4 of the Dragon Guardians who are Cyril, Volteer and Terrador and drained their elemental powers inside crystals. She then takes the crystals to her lair.
 
==The Legend Of Spyro: A New Beginning==
Spyro eventually rescues the Dragon Guardians, but [[Ignitus]] gets captured and Cynder steals the last element. After finding [[Ignitus]], Spyro goes and faces Cynder, who has nearly finished the process of reviving the Dark Master.
Cynder and Spyro fight in a big battle and Cynder loses. Cynder reverts to her normal form, Spyro takes the unconscious body and flies out of the Convexity portal.
