Sgt. Byrd's Base was a level in Midday Gardens in Spyro: Year of the Dragon. To access this level, 700 Gems must be paid to Moneybags to release Sgt. Byrd, who is the second alternate playable character in the game.

After Sgt. Byrd's Captivity

When Sgt. Byrd returns to his base, he is informed by the hummingbirds that the base is under the attack of Rhynocs. Many Hummingbirds have been captured by the Rhynocs and locked in cages, and it is up to Sgt. Byrd to release them and rid the base of the enemy. There are 5 Hummingbirds in total.

Scenery Etc

Sgt. Byrd's Base is a rather grassy level, considering the amount of bombs that are let off during the game. The Fodder in the level are small ladybirds. There are numerous caves, both large and small throughout the level.

Skill Point

There are also Gophers in this level which hide in their holes when you land on their level and get too close. These can be hit by using the bombs located on the level, and once all of them have been hit, a Skill Point is awarded.

• "Sir, the situation is this-- Yesterday at 1845 hours, the Rhynocs invaded. We defended as best we could, sir, but without your leadership, we didn't put up an effective resistance. By 1900 hours, the rest of the squad was captured, and the Rhynocs have complete control of the base."

• "Sir, I've captured the enemy rations! They won't march far on an empty stomach."
