Desert Ruins
From the Spyro Wiki, the Spyro and Skylanders encyclopedia
Template:PlaceOriginalDesert Ruins is the location of the tomb of the Stone Golem, and a prime location for treasure hunters. When Spyro arrived, he encountered the famous explorer Tara and her skittish boyfriend Gus. The tomb is filled with deadly Scorpions of all shapes and sizes, as well as acidic water. Sheila and Hunter can also be found here.

Trivia
- When viewing the portal, the bottom part of the background is blue, but when entering the portal, and in the realm, the bottom part is green, like the ooze in the realm.
- One of the rats, Tara, is a spoof of Lara Croft, with a similar name, hairstyle, outfit and large assets.
- Because of this, many fans dub her "Tara Kroft".
- The other rat, Gus, resembles the Gemcutters of Glimmer.
- Before relinquishing her dragon egg, Tara complains about "pressing switches and shoving boxes", two staples of the Tomb Raider franchise.
- Another PlayStation character reference exists in the atlas page for this level. The eggs gained by Sheila are titled in the atlas as "Krash Kangaroo I" and "Krash Kangaroo II" as a reference to Crash Bandicoot, Spyro's Naughty Dog counterpart and fellow PlayStation mascot.
- the "Krash Kangaroo I" and "Krash Kangaroo II" minigames also make references to old nintendo and Sega games of the 80's and early 90's such as Super Mario. examples would be Shiela saying "You just long the simple old fashioned pleasures of yesteryear..." and then proceeds to go into side scroller mode, thus implying homage to those classics
- Even if Sheila hasn't been rescued, the wall locking Spyro out of her sub-level is hidden below the acid fall near the bridge allowing him to enter the sub-level.
- Aquaria Towers makes a cameo in one of the minigames, brining back certain staples from Aquaria Towers including. The Robot Sharks, Hunter in his scuba diving gear, Spyro riding Hunter's pet Manta Ray, and achieving a skill point by destroying all seaweed
- The Firebreathers use same concept as that of the Electro Gnorcs from Beastmakers except with fire instead of electricity.
