Template:PlaceOriginalAquaria Towers (アクアタワー; Aqua Tower) is an underwater realm in Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! and in the Spyro Reignited Trilogy remaster of the second game. It can be accessed in the Summer Forest homeworld after paying Moneybags 400 gems to lower a wall containing the portal.

Story

The realm is ruled by intelligent Seahorses, who are watched over by the Seahorse King. As the name implies, there are numerous underwater towers that serve as homes for the seahorses that reside there.

Prior to Spyro's arrival, the Water Workers from Sunny Beach drained all the water in the realm, causing some of the seahorses to become immobilized. Spyro must release all the water by pressing switches, while avoiding becoming a meal for fierce robotic sharks (with the help of Moneybags and his shark submarine). Once you release all the water, the seahorses will give Spyro their Talisman as thanks for helping them.

Guide

Orb Challenges

Seahorse Rescue(Difficulty: ★★★★☆)

  • Rescue all of King Flippy's baby seahorses who were kidnapped by the Water Workers from 6 towers, each with deadlier traps. The king will blow up the entrance to the next Tower each time you rescue one

Manta Ride I (Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆)

  • Help Hunter tame his pet manta ray by riding on it through several underwater rings without missing one.

Manta Ride II (Difficulty: ★★★★☆)

  • Help get Hunter's pet manta ray into racing shape by riding it through a harder and trickier ring course.

Skill Point

All Seaweed

  • Destroy all the seaweed around the realm using the super flame power-up gate to get a skill point. You will need to defeat 16 enemies in order to activate it.

Cutscenes

Opening Scene

A seahorse is seen with its head down, looking sad. Suddenly, a hand appears with a glass of water, and the seahorse looks happy, until the hand takes the water off-screen. This happens two more times until the camera moves outward, revealing a Water Worker who is holding the glass of water. On the other side of him is a small water worker in a bucket. The Water Worker again pretends to give the seahorse some water, before taking it back. He then looks to the young Water Worker and pours the water in his bucket. The seahorse falls to the ground, saddened again, as the worker laughs at him.

Closing Scene

The world is filled with water again, and a seahorse is seen swimming in the water, happily. Suddenly, a pair of robotic jaws appear on the side of the seahorse. The seahorse apparently blows bubbles out of its rear, and, fearing for its life, flees and swims off screen. The camera moves to the side, to show the jaws are fake, and it was just another seahorse playing a mean trick. Suddenly, another pair of robotic jaws appear beside this seahorse, who looks at them and laughs, thinking it is just someone playing a trick. However, the jaws belong to a Robot Shark, who chomps his mouth a few times, proving it's real. It then chases the seahorse off screen.

Trivia

Original Game

  • Aquaria Towers is paired with Sunny Beach, the latter of which was originally going to be named Aquaria Beach.
  • The theme music is a remix of the one from Hurricos.
  • Moneybags lives in this realm, despite being a bear. It's possible that his home has air pressure in some of the rooms.
  • Sometimes the surrounding background in the above portion of the realm turns grey.
  • If you manage to reach Hoppo by double jumping before filling the whole realm with water, he will thank you and "give" you the talisman, but nothing will actually happen and you won't receive it. In this case, you'll have to exit the level, come back, and complete the level as intended to get the talisman.
  • If Spyro nears the metal sharks and then jumps out of the water and runs away, the metal sharks will still eat him if there is no water. This is only partially a glitch, as it is programmed so that once you are in the metal sharks' vicinity, there is no way to escape them (unless you have the power-up and shoot them).
  • If you charge swim down and to the direction out of the realm out of the above portion and you keep going, you'll go outside the realm. If you go underneath the level for a while, you'll find a lone patch of water that will kill you if you dive into it.
  • This is the second level in the series to have "towers" in the realm name; the other two are Haunted Towers and Enchanted Towers.
  • In Spyro: Year of the Dragon, a handful of essential elements of this level including Hunter featured in a scuba costume, Spyro riding Hunter's pet manta ray, destroying seaweeds for a skill point, and the Robot Sharks all make a cameo in the underwater challenge realm located in the Desert Ruins level.
  • It is possible to skip the payment of Moneybags if you have the Superflame cheat and if you manage to avoid the Robot Sharks flame them even though its hard to skip the payment.
