- The key artwork for Spyro: A Hero's Tail was designed by Drew Struzan, who also designed posters for the Star Wars films.
- Spyro: Year of the Dragon has an elaborate anti-piracy feature that significantly increases the game's difficulty.
- Elora would have reappeared in Spyro 2: Season of Flame, but was cut due to time constraints.
- In the first game, the gliding controls were programmed by a NASA rocket scientist, Matt Whiting.
