''The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night''
Whenever the player completes the Dragon Challenges or types in the certain cheat codes in the game, they will gain the power of the darkness or eclipse(Dark Spyro), and when the player has the ice element on, then chooses to transform back into Dark Spyro, they can use two different Flight types that will be gained when using the certain powers, the first use Convexity Breath(when you are at airborne level, but using his breath)this will allow Dark Spyro to hover and drop slower than usual, and this is useful as a Weapon also if you are surrounded by too much enemies or you can use Convexity Dash(when you use his Convexity Melee, but don't attack enemies)this will allow Dark Spyro to soar in the direction you want him to move, but you will be at the same airborne level that you started it with at. However, this is the only game that allows Spyro to do slightly different Flight types, but he has to become his dark form in order to do the said types of flight, also this doesn't appear in the DS version.

Spyro flying

Flight is one of Spyro's unique abilities in the Spyro series. Being a dragon, he is able to fly freely using his wings, but only in certain areas.

Original Spyro series

In the original Spyro series, Spyro is only able to free fly in Speedways and certain special levels throughout the original series.

A Superfly powerup is available in some of the Spyro games, temporarily allowing Spyro to fly freely.

The Legend of Spyro series

The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning

After teaching Spyro the art of Fire, Ignitus taught Spyro how to fly. Spyro afterwards flew his way to Dante's Freezer in the level, First Flight, and later flew through the eruption of Boyzitbig on Munitions Forge to get away from Cynder.

The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon

Spyro and Cynder are able to fly at anytime, making Dawn of the Dragon the first Spyro game to have free-flight available throughout the game.

Skylanders series

In Skylanders, one of Spyro's upgrades is Flight. Upon acquiring this upgrade, Spyro can fly at any time and have his speed increased, but can only fly a little above the ground. Other Skylanders who have the Flight upgrade will have this ability as well:

It is also mentioned in one of the Story Scrolls that Chompies can fly as well, but only if they drink enough fizzy juice.
