Fire, also known as Flame, is one of Spyro's two main attacks, the other being charging. He is only capable of these two forms of attack until later in the series when other breath types are introduced such as ice, electricity and bubble.

Original Spyro

Throughout the series, Spyro has been armed with the power to breath fire. In the Insomniac trilogy, Spyro's flame breath appear as fire arrows, but was later evolved into a blast of fire. This typical dragon ability has evolved over time to include mastery of other elements. These are Ice, Electricity, Earth, Bubble, and Water. However, it was not until the Legend of Spyro series that the Fire Breath developed different abilities.

The Spyro series was re-imagined to allow primary and secondary elemental abilities.

The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning

Fire was the first element Spyro learned, and was his basic breath, which became more powerful as it was upgraded. The secondary attack was the ability to hurl fire bombs that arched forward and exploded upon impact.

The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night

The primary fire breath could be upgraded to launch homing fire missiles along with the breath, whilst the secondary attack was the Comet Dash, a headlong rush and strike with fire.

The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon

Spyro's Fire breath is much more stronger, as his Dragon's fire is upgraded, it can spread from enemies to other enemies. His secondary attack retains the Comet Dash from The Eternal Night, a flaming, ramming attack unlocked by upgrading the fire element. When the Comet Dash is fully upgraded, it can cause massive amounts of damage.

Skylanders

In Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure, Spyro's primary attack is Fire Breath, which is similar to Classic Spyro's Flame attack. He can also use his Triple Flameballs, spitting out three streams of flames at his enemies at once. If Spyro takes the Sheep Burner Upgrade Path, he will be able to use Fire Shield, Exploding Fireblast, and The Daybringer Flame.

Although Spyro can master the other elements, he prefers to master Fire.
