Gnasty Gnorc
- For the realm in Spyro the Dragon, see here: Gnasty Gnorc (Level)
Gnasty Gnorc (ナスティ・ノーク Nasuti Nōku in Japanese) is a big green Gnorc who was the main antagonist in Spyro the Dragon, and played a part in Spyro: A Hero's Tail.
Personality
Gnasty Gnorc is a mean, ugly, bad tempered, and 'nasty' Gnorc (gnome + orc) who hates Dragons. He is unintelligent, sensitive about his appearances, and will not hesitate to attack those who stand in his way.
Background
Gnasty Gnorc was originally an inhabitant of the Dragon Realms, but as time went on, he found it hard to live with the Dragons' rules and customs, and he became chaotic and unruly as he gazed at the dragons treasure of gems that were not only beautiful to look at but also showed him the reflection of his own ugly mug. As time went by Gnasty began causing mischief which soon escalated into trouble in the dragon realms as he began learning and meddling with magic. So the Dragons banished Gnasty to a wasteland world known as the dragon junk yard, where he was far enough away to do whatever he wanted.
Gnasty renamed the wastelands "Gnasty's World." He realized that his power was nothing without minions to command, so he created Gnorcs out of various doo-dads. After a while, he found out that turning gems into Gnorcs was a lot easier and far more effective, so he started "borrowing" the Dragon's treasure and creating gnorcs out of it. The Dragons knew of this, but believed it would be best to let it go for the time being, so as not to upset Gnasty.
Story
Dragon Realms Invasion
One day, during the creation of a documentary video for the DNN (Dragon News Network), Lindar, when asked about Gnasty Gnorc, calls Gnasty "ugly," along with other derogatory terms. Gnasty, who overhears this, becomes enraged and encases every Dragon in crystal (except for Spyro, who is apparently too small for him to notice). He then confiscates their entire treasury, turning some of the gems into Gnorcs and scattering the rest throughout the Dragon Realms. Gnasty also hires thieves to steal the remaining twelve Dragon eggs in an attempt to fully exterminate the Dragons. Since Spyro is the sole remaining Dragon, he takes it upon himself to free all the other Dragons, recover the gems and eggs, and defeat Gnasty.
Defeat
In the final battle between Spyro and Gnasty Gnorc, Spyro must catch the thieves which hold keys to certain doors. Gnasty will meanwhile fire magic beams at him (which turned the other Dragons into crystal). Once Spyro reaches Gnasty, Gnasty runs away. Spyro must chase Gnasty throughout the realm and get close enough to flame him. After this, Gnasty will enter a lava tunnel. Spyro must follow him, gliding from platform to platform (each of which is gradually cascading into the wall) until he gets to the end where Gnasty will be waiting. Spyro must flame Gnasty a second time to finish him off.
Resurrection
In Spyro: A Hero's Tail, Gnasty Gnorc was resurrected by Red, an evil Dragon Elder, and assisted him in his evil plans.
When Spyro confronts Gnasty the second time, Gnasty claims that he was the one who defeated Spyro, but Spyro corrects him and the battle ensues. After Spyro defeats him, the trapped Electric Fairy gives Spyro the power of Electric Breath.
Reference
In Spyro: Year of the Dragon, Gnasty Gnorc is mentioned. In a skate park in the level Enchanted Towers, Hunter says he created a skateboarding move called the "Gnasty Gnorc."
In the first cutscene of Spyro: Ripto's Rage, Spyro and Sparx grow tired of a prolonged rainy weather in their home world (Dragon Realms), as Spyro claimed that he forgot what the sun looked like. The two then decide to take a vacation to a warm and sunny paradise, and Spyro spots a portal to Dragon Shores, his ideal vacation spot. At this point, Gnasty Grorc is mentioned, as Spyro recalls that he had not been to Dragon Shores since he "kicked Gnasty Gnorc's butt."
