The Concurrent skies is a level in The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning. This is the Electric elemental land, it has two bosses, the Electric King and Cynder. This area is also home to Cynder, when she was under the control of the Dark Master. It is also here that Spyro rescues his captured mentor and father figure, Ignitus, who had been take earlier defending Spyro from Cynder. After a brief skirmish with Corrupt Cynder at the top of her tower, she takes the final elemental crystal, charged with Ignitus's power, and flees to Convexity, to awaken her Master. But before Spyro goes after Cynder, Ignitus tells him the real story that Cynder was the same age as him and was taken in her egg by the Dark Master before she hatched. The Dark Master then poisoned Cynder's heart making her very evil.
Years later, after defeating Ignitus in battle, Cynder took the Fire Guardian to Concurrent Skies in order to drain his energy into a crystal that would serve as the final key in freeing the Dark Master Malefor. Spyro ventured to Cynder's Lair soon after to rescue Ignitus. After making his way through Cynder's towers, fighting her Ape henchmen along the way (including the Electric King), he soon found Ignitus, confined and his powers were being drained into a crystal. Cynder stopped Spyro from destroying the crystal, and after a short battle, she escaped with it. Spyro noticed that there was something familiar about Cynder by her eyes, and Ignitus told him the truth.

It is here that Spyro comes to rescue Ignitus and fight Cynder for the first time.

Story

History

In the past, Concurrent Skies was a private study for Volteer and other Electric Dragons to learn and harness the power of Electricity. The spires surrounding the region were brilliant conductors, and the Electricity dragons there channeled and diverted lightning if and when needed. However during the war, Cynder was able to bypass the lightning deterrent that surrounded Concurrent Skies with her superior flight and evasion skills, allowing her to reach the dragons stationed there and and kill them off. The area was then left in ruin, allowing the Dark Armies to claim the private study and repurposed it as Cynder's Lair. With no one to manage the electrical elements of the landscape, the sky became dark and rages with unbalanced, unchecked electricity under Cynder's cruelty, the best deterrent for intruders.[1]

The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning

Cynder came from the same brood of eggs as Spyro (they are not siblings) that were kept hidden in the Dragon Temple. However she was taken by the Malefor's minions on the night of the raid, which also ended with the slaughter of all the other dragon eggs. Sometime after her kidnapping, a young Cynder was corrupted by Malefor's poisonous powers and became his tool of destruction against the world. Malefor was using Cynder to gain the Guardians' powers so she could unlock the portal, which served as his prison, since only a dragon born in the Year of the Dragon, such as Cynder, could open it. As the vortex to the world of Convexity opened, Ignitus feared that they were too late, but Spyro refused to give up and followed Cynder through the portal to stop her from freeing Malefor.
