The Celestial Caves are a series of caves within the White Isle. At the center of the caves lies a temple that contains chambers holding elemental trials to prove the worth of those who wish to see The Chronicler. Within the Chronicler's chamber is a library with more books than any other. The history of the Dragon race is mostly contained in this library as well as prophecies of what is to come.

It is here that dragons face trials involving their elemental breaths and is also the location of the cave the Chronicler resides in. There several caves that must be journeyed through to reach the final challenges. A round room with five doors and a platform is located just outside this cave. The middle door leads to the Chronicler's chamber and the four doors around it lead to each of the elemental trials. These doors each have a symbol in one of the colours red, green, blue and yellow with each one corresponding to the element of fire, earth, ice and electricity respectively. Each of these trials must be completed and then the platform in the centre of the room will activate taking the dragon to a platform on the top of the White Isle. This platform indicates that the room directly below it may be in the centre of the island. On this platform the dragon must face an elemental embodiment of what they fear the most. Once this embodiment is defeated, the middle door to the Chronicler's chamber will open.

The Chronicler's chamber itself appears to be a large round room. It is surrounded by selfves which contain the Books of Time. In the centre of the room is a massive hourglass, the purpose of which is unknown. Before Spyro could meet the Chronicler, he had to pass these trials and even face an elemental embodiment of Cynder from when she was under the Dark Master's control. Once Spyro defeats it, he meets the Chronicler and from him learns the history of the Dark Master. The Chronicler asks Spyro to stay here in safety and ride out the storm that is coming, but Spyro refuses opting to save Cynder and is shown the way to the Mountain of Malefor and leaves.

Story

After arriving on the White Isle, Spyro had to make his way through the caves while battling enemies and the island's security systems. Eventually he entered the central temple where The Chronicler lies.

Before Spyro could meet the Chronicler, he had to pass a series of trials and even face an elemental embodiment of Cynder during her time under the Dark Master's control. Once Spyro defeated it, he encountered the Chronicler and from him, learned about Cynder's past as well as the history of the Dark Master. The Chronicler asked Spyro to stay with him in safety and ride out the storm that is coming, but Spyro refused, opting to save Cynder and was then shown the way to the Mountain of Malefor.

Trivia

 • The Celestial Caves are replaced by the Temple Sanctum in the Nintendo GameBoy Advance version, as the temple covers the entire island with little wear and tear, while most of it is in ruins in the console version.
 • The Chronicler's enormous hourglass was to be something similiar to that in regards to motion and scale. The development team at Krome Studios intended to add more visual cues pertaining to 'time' in the Chronicler's home on the White Isle, but they never got to tease that detail out and polish it off completely.[1]
