| Over a thousand years ago before the events of ''[[Spyro the Dragon (video game)|Spyro the Dragon]]'', the Dragons originally lived in the Forgotten Realms and ruled it alongside the [[Sorceress]] and her [[Rhynoc]] army. However, the Dragons and the Sorceress didn't get along. One day, when a Dragon Elder ([[Astor (Spyro the Dragon)|Astor]] in the ''[[Spyro Reignited Trilogy]]'') and the Sorceress were having a huge argument, she banished all of the Dragons to the other side of the world, which would eventually become known as the Dragon Realms. Since the dragons left, all the magic in the Forgotten Realms had started to dry up. After [[Spyro the Dragon (character)|Spyro]] defeated the Sorceress and destroyed her, all the magic in the Forgotten Worlds returned.

The Forgotten Realms is the main setting of Spyro: Year of the Dragon. It was where the dragons lived before the Sorceress banished them to the Dragon Realms. Ever since the dragons were banished, all the magic in the Forgotten Realms began to dry up.
In the game, the Forgotten Realms were rediscovered when the Sorceress, noticing her fading magic, tries to regain it by sending the Rhynocs and Bianca to steal the Dragon Eggs after the Year of the Dragon celebration in the Artisans realm.
In the ending, after Spyro has defeated the Sorceress, magic returns into the Forgotten Realms.
