The Dragon Realms (ドラゴン・リゾート in Japanese) are a diverse world that make up the primary home of the Dragons. They made their first appearance in Spyro the Dragon for the PlayStation, in which Spyro traveled to six playable homeworlds within the Dragon Realms. They later appeared in Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage in the opening sequence, and again in Spyro: Year of the Dragon in the opening sequence, and the final cutscene. It wasn't until Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly that they again became a playable world. While not explicitly stated in Enter the Dragonfly, the homeworld in this game, referred to simply as "The Dragon Realms," is geographically connected to the other Dragon Realm homeworlds: Artisans, Peace Keepers, Magic Crafters, Beast Makers, Dream Weavers, Gnasty's World, Dragon Shores, and Dragon Castles.

The focal point of this world is the Dragon Castle, which leads to Nestor's Palace and Dragon Castles (from Spyro Orange). This area surrounding the castle serves as the solitary homeworld in Enter the Dragonfly. Unlike other homeworlds in the Dragon Realms, this homeworld does not contain portals, but instead, other forms of transportation to its connected realms. For example, to get to Crop Circle Country, Spyro rides a UFO from a barn.

Landscape

The main area is a beautifully crafted homeworld full of lush green fields and comprised of a predominately hilly landscape. As Spyro leaves the main area of the Dragon Realms, the landscape varies depending on which passage to another realm is close by. (The only exception to this is the passage to Honey Marsh, which has no distinguishing surroundings.)

  • As Spyro approach the passage to Dragonfly Dojo, the architecture becomes more eastern with Japanese influences.
  • The whirlwind to Cloud 9 is covered by a white atrium, similar to Cloud 9's architecture.
  • Beyond the Electrical Gate, the area around the entrance to Crop Circle Country looks similar to a barn, complete with pens and hay laying around.
  • Further on towards the Luau Island boat, the architecture becomes more Polynesian by the beach and small lake.
  • Past the Ice Gate, the entrance to Jurassic Jungle is inspired by Mayan and South American architecture. The forests and grass become more lush in view of the pyramid containing the Jurassic Jungle passage.
  • Near the magic carpet to the Thieves Den, the the lush green forests die out and turn into desert, and the architecture becomes somewhat Arabic and middle eastern.
  • Near the balloon passage to Monkey Monastery, the land becomes frigid and frozen, and the architecture distinctly resembles Indian and Hindu architecture.

Inhabitants

  • Dragon Spirit: The Dragon Spirit is the spirit of a long-dead Dragon, that lives on in a statue. He speaks to Spyro in an ethereal voice, as he grants Spyro new powers, provided he has the correct runes. The powers he grants to Spyro are Bubble Breath, Electric Breath, Wing Shield, and Ice Breath. After all the abilities are granted to Spyro, the Dragon Spirit no longer speaks to Spyro.
  • Miyagi: Miyagi is the ambassador of sorts of Dragonfly Dojo. He watches over the passage to the Dragonfly Dojo. After Spyro collects one Dragonfly, he uses its magic to make the 'portal' work again, so Spyro can liberate the Dragonfly Dojo.

Dragonflies

  • Toons (Front of the Castle: In what is, probably, the first Dragonfly you will collect, Toons will appear before you right after you obtain Bubble Breath. After Sparx tells you how to capture Dragonflies, you can approach Toons and use Bubble Breath on him. He may run away, but it is easy to catch up to him.
  • Bubbles (Hunter's Lesson): Hunter will be standing before a jump that can only be made by gliding. Talk to him, and he will reteach Spyro how to glide. After gliding to the next area of land, Hunter will teach Spyro how to hover. Hunter will jump to the next piece of land, and Spyro can then glide over and then hover at the end. After both Hunter and Sparx reach the last piece of land, hunter rewards Spyro with a Dragonfly.
  • Jeet (Flame Challenge): After Hunter's Lesson, a Powerup Gate will be waiting next to Spyro. After entering the gate, Spyro must burn eight scarecrows in order to free Jeet.
  • Kenichi (Buzzing Cold): Near the entrance to Crop Circle Country, Kenichi will be waiting for Spyro to capture him. He will run around, but can be easily nabbed with Bubble Breath.
  • Alex (Lightning Challenge): Howie is locked inside the Lightning Powerup Gate. Spyro must electrocute the eight metal poles in order to free Howie from the gate.
  • Amie (Down By The Bay): Amie is a freerunning Dragonfly by the boat to Luau Island. Another easy one for Spyro to obtain.
  • Masa (Beyond the Gate): Masa is just outside the Ice Gate, before the 'portal' to Jurassic Jungle.
  • Fluffy (Buzzing Heat): Fluffy is near the Jurassic Jungle pyramid. He is also freerunning.
  • Howie (Ice Challenge): Howie is trapped in the Ice Powerup Gate. In order to free him, you must step through the gate and freeze the eight items required.
  • Sandra (Balloon's Shadow): Sandra is right by the balloon to Monkey Monastery. She is also freerunning, and may be difficult to catch with all the things in the area.
