The main concept pitch of DragonSpan was a third-person/smasher game with the player taking the role of a dragon defending his terrority. The second premise was about a apprentice wizard who accidentally transformed himself into a dragon and has to venture through the ages to find a cure. The last premise for the concept is a magical creature with the ability to shapeshift into other creatures, with the highest and powerful form being a dragon.

'''''DragonSpan'''''

'''High Concept:''' You are a Dragon defending his territory by smashing, incinerating and eating everything in your path.

'''Game Style:''' Third-Person Shooter/Smasher (Heavy on the ''smashing'')

'''Game Play:''' As a Dragon, the Player ''walks'' and ''flies'' through his world defending and expanding his territory by use of his brute physical strength and fearsome breath weapons. With these the player has the ability to down trees, smash buildings and pound the landscape. In addition to physical attacks the player can use a more refined form of attack via magic. Spells such as charm, heal, berserk will help in the further conquest of his foes.<br />Various Playfields, or Eras, would have a different dynamic driving gameplay. Examples would be a 'forced scroll' or 'reactor' type round, or the focus of play could be derived from classics like BreakOut, or Defender.

'''Environment:''' The game takes place during epic times in ''an'' Earth's past, present and future where magic and myths rule. The history of this world follows the familiar path of our own but with far more fanciful and deadly flair. Mythological creatures abound; there is a lost world at the center of the Earth; majestic cities float amongst the clouds with DeVinciesque machines flying between them, and much, much more.

'''Premise I:''' The Dragon is actually an apprentice wizard, who accidentally transformed himself into a young Dragon. The Player then takes this young Dragon through the ages searching for a cure. As time passes, the Dragon matures, gaining along with way greater strength, greater magic and ever increasing flying skills. (Perhaps the Player can choose between several different types of creatures at the beginning of the game.)
:'''Goal:''' To find the lost pages to the Reversal Spell.

'''Premise II:''' The Player is actually a magical creature whose enjoys the ability of transforming into other creatures. The highest and most powerful form is that of a Dragon. As the Player takes damage he loses his ability to maintain his current form and therefore must 'degrade' to the next level of creature; unless he is able to replenish his magical strength. The degradation of the Player would follow a line something like; from a powerful flying Dragon into a less power flightless Dragon, to a giant Orc like creature and so on until he is back to his natural stage. It is in this nature state that the player is most vulnerable and can actually be killed. (Although there would also be the occasional situation with the ability to 'kill' the Player instantly no matter what his form.)
:'''Goal:''' To defend your territory and subdue your enemies.

Insomniac II

DragonSpan

Type: Third Person Action/Shooter

High Concept: You are a Dragon who defends his territory by eating, smashing and incinerating everything in your path.

Character: You are a young apprentice wizard, thousands of years ago, who while playing with the masters spell book turned yourself into a monster. (1. Dragon 2. Giant Insect or 3. ????) (Maybe the player has a choice of which monster he turns himself into.)

:Unfortunately the last page of the book is missing, and it contains the return spell!

:The player then spends the rest of his life as a Dragon looking for the torn pieces of the last page. One piece is found in each era of time, and each era of time is a Mission.

Goal: To find all of the pieces to the last page of the spell book.

Game Play: The player walks and flies through his world. He uses his magic and physical abilities to accomplish his goal. He can cast varies types of spells, (charm, heal, berserk etc.) and he can also use his physical abilities such as breathing fire or electricity to burn and destroy obstacles or use his wings and tail to blow and smash objects. The Player would also be able to, while flying, swoop down pick up an object, be it a rock or an enemy, and then drop them on other targets.

The Game:
Era I: Middle Earth, (pre-iceage). This is the time that the young apprentice lived.
:Enemies: Goblins, Orcs etc. and other dragons.
