Template:Items (Original) Dark Shards are smaller versions of the Dark Gems in Spyro: A Hero's Tail. Instead of helping Spyro gain access to new area, Dark Shards help him get more gems, which can be spent at Moneybags' shop. Dark Shards can also be destroyed by charging, unlike the Dark Gems which require the Horn Dive in order to be destroyed.
Dark Shards are also the targets in Blink's levels, the object being to find and destroy all of them in the level. In Blink's levels, they can only be destroyed by bombs.
