Spyro using his Wing Shield

The Wing Shield is a defense move that Spyro learned. In Enter the Dragonfly, after gaining the ability from the Dragon Spirit, it is activated by pressing L2 and R2 together after a certain event.

In Spyro: A Hero's Tail, it is activated by Triangle after visiting Elder Titan in Cloudy Domain. The "Wing Shield" is merely a shield made up of Spyro's wings, which he hides behind. Spyro can then move (spin) around in a circle, on the spot, in the same "hiding away" position. The Wing Shield is only good for repelling certain enemy projectiles and it doesn't work against direct physical attacks. Only one known enemy in the game, the Wizard Riptocs from the Thieves Den, can only be defeated by having their own magic spells turn back at them with Wing Shield.
