The Atlas in Spyro: Year of the Dragon

The Guidebook is a recurring object in the Spyro franchise.

Location and uses

The Guidebook is where Spyro can check his progress to see the total number of collectible items in each Home World and realm and how much he has collected. The collectibles shown in the Guidebook depends on the game, although Gems are one of them in every game.

Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!

In Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!, its first appearance, the Guidebook lists the number of Orbs, Talismans, and Gems in each level. The Guidebook also provides a list of tasks for each area, which each have their own preview image as well. Spyro receives it from Elora when he arrives in Avalar.

Spyro: Year of the Dragon

In Spyro: Year of the Dragon, the Guidebook was renamed to Atlas. In it, Sparx is used to highlight and select a Home World or realm to view more specific information on it. The total number of gems and Dragon Eggs can be seen for each area. Completing the last Sparx level, Bugbot Factory, unlocks the ability for the Atlas to warp Spyro to any selected level.

Spyro: Season of Ice

In Spyro: Season of Ice, the Atlas shows the total number of gems collected and fairies rescued on the right pages. The Atlas's first page is headlined "Total Items", and it shows the overall number of gems collected and the game's completion percentage. The individual pages show the name of a Home World and its collectibles on the top. A list of realms and their respective collectibles are listed below the Home World from which they are accessed.

Spyro 2: Season of Flame

In Spyro 2: Season of Flame, like in Spyro: Season of Ice, the Atlas only shows information for each realm on the right pages. The page layout in the Atlas has changed, and each realm has their own details listed on their own page. The Atlas shows the number of gems and Fireflies for each realm, which also have their own completion percentage shown.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy

In Spyro Reignited Trilogy, Atlas was renamed back to Guidebook. It is integrated with the pause menu, and can be accessed in all three games. The Guidebook's contents correspond to the appropriate game. The Guidebook has a brown cover with gold letters and gold coverings, and the book has a purple bookmark.
