Species: | Rhynoc |
First appearance: | Spyro: Season of Ice (2001) |
- “ARGH! This Spell Book is worthless! Look what it did to me! I've got two heads and four headaches!”
- – Grendor
Grendor is a two-headed Rhynoc wizard who is the main antagonist of Spyro: Season of Ice.
Physical Appearance
Grendor's original form is a simple, pink Rhynoc. As a result of the botched spell, Grendor is large and two-headed. His body is split in halves; the left side of his body is red, and the right side is green. Grendor wears a cape and a star necklace around both of his heads, and he wears a wizard's hat on each head. Grendor's left head is always shown to be angry, while his right head is always shown to be sad.
Abilities
With his wand, Grendor can conjure not only fire spells but ice spells as well. Without his wand, he can cast fire magic and use his own strength to try and crush his enemies.
Story
Grendor was a Rhynoc who, along with the many other Rhynocs, became jobless after the defeat of the Sorceress. He was given a job at the Grand Central Dragon Realms library as its librarian, but Grendor desperately longed for a career change. He never made the cut into the Rhynoc army for being small and meek. Finding the Sorceress' Spell Book left behind by Bianca, he was inspired to use a transformation spell that can turn him into a towering mass of muscle and brainpower. Unfortunately in his haste, Grendor read the spell upside down, causing it to backfire. It accelerated his muscle and brainpower, but it also caused him to gain an extra head and a massive headache, which drove him towards fits of rage and corrupted his mind. Desperate to reverse the effects, he found out that the antidote was the wings of 100 magical fairies. Grendor then invaded the Fairy Realms, froze all of the fairies in ice using a magical spell, and deployed Rhynocs to gather those frozen fairies.[1]
During the game, after Spyro completed Winter Fairy Home, he entered Grendor's Lair and found out that Grendor was responsible for freezing all of the fairies. The two of them engaged in a boss fight, but Spyro managed to defeat Grendor and progress to the next Fairy World. After Spyro freed 99 of the captive fairies, he was able to confront Grendor in his lair. There, he defeated the evil Rhynoc and rescued Zoe. Upon being freed, Zoe casted a simple spell and Grendor returned to his normal pink form. He apologized for his actions and thanked them for freeing him of his psychosis, happy that he no longer had a headache.
