The Burned Lands is the tenth chapter in The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon. large, desolate wasteland that surrounds the ground level of Malefor's Lair. Within it are multiple ambush areas for enemies Spyro and Cynder have faced before, as they attempt to stop the two dragons from reaching Malefor.
At the heart of this burning wasteland is a massive volcano, which serves as a harbringer of doom and an image of menace. Malefor's dark magic suspends the several islands pulled from Warfang above this volcano, including his Lair.

Story
Before the events of The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon, Malefor attacked the city of Warfang upon his return, tearing its temple and nearby city structures from the ground with his dark magic and suspending them above the land as a symbol of his dominance.
