Mermaids are creatures that appear in Spyro: A Hero's Tail, Spyro: Season of Ice, and Spyro 2: Season of Flame. One of the mermaids is the boss Ineptune. Another one named Lily appears to Spyro, and give him some hints about where to go underwater.
Story
Spyro: Season of Ice
In Spyro: Season of Ice, a host of mermaids appear at the Mermaid Coast, a realm of the Autumn Fairy Home. They find their world plagued with Rhynocs after a handful of Fairies were held captive in frozen crystals throughout the world. They were eventually freed from their torment by Spyro.
