Despite this setback, the Sorcerer built three [[Shadow Amplifier]] machines; one in the Dragon Realms guarded by the [[Ice Minion]], the second in [[Avalar]] protected by the [[Fire Minion]], and the third in his own fortress. These machines pulled both magic and people into the [[Shadow Realm]], imprisoning them and draining them of their magic. Template:Characterbox Template:Q The Sorcerer, also known as Stranger, is the main antagonist of Spyro: Shadow Legacy. He is the one responsible for the Calamity that drained most of the magic from the world as well as manipulating Red, one of the Dragon Elders, into becoming his pawn. He is not related to the Sorceress in any way.

Appearance

The Sorcerer is an anthropomorphic purple dragon. He was always seen wearing a black robe with a hood shaped like a knight's helmet that conceals most of his appearance. While transformed into a large dragon, the Sorcerer has four wings, red spikes and horns, and a design on his tail-spike resembling his scepter.

Personality

The Sorcerer frequently says <keff> whenever he talks. He claims that Spyro and the other dragons of the Dragon Realms are not true dragons, and that only he is a real dragon. He is self-confident in his powers and abilities, believing himself to be superior.

Abilities

Being a special purple dragon, the Sorcerer possesses powerful magic. He can teleport in pillars of light and also transform himself into a large dragon.

Story

In the Sorcerer's fortress, Bianca spies on the Sorcerer and Red before beng discovered

Most of the Sorcerer's backstory is unknown, but what is known was that he brainwashed a Dragon Elder named Red into becoming his pawn and ordered him to commit terrible crimes against his fellow dragon elders and those around him. After Red's defeat at the hands of Spyro in Spyro: A Hero's Tail, the Sorcerer formulated a plan of his own to conquer the world. He built machines called Shadow Amplifiers to unleash the Calamity that imprisoned everyone into the Shadow Realm and drain them of their magic. Red escaped the Professor's lab and rejoined with the Sorcerer, assisting the evil purple dragon in his latest scheme.

While Spyro was freeing the world's inhabitants from the Shadow Realm, the Sorcerer randomly appeared during Spyro's travels and teleported away whenever the young dragon drew near. The Sorcerer saw that Spyro was undoing his plan and was in the process of building a more powerful Shadow Amplifier in his fortress to permanently trap everyone in the Shadow Realm and drain all magic from the world. As he and Red were discussing this backup plan, the Sorcerer discovered Bianca eavesdropping on them and easily subdued her with Red's assistance. He spared Bianca's life however, and ordered Red to use her as bait for Spyro in the Forgotten Realms and destroy him.

After Spyro saved everyone (including Red) from the Sorcerer's poisonous influence, he traveled to the Sorcerer's Land and confronted the evil mage, who offered Spyro to join him. Spyro refused, and the Sorcerer retreated into his castle to engage him in battle. At the start of the battle, the Sorcerer transformed into an enormous four-winged dragon but was ultimately defeated by Spyro despite his claims of superiority. The Sorcerer escaped and was said to be building up power for his next attack.

Trivia

  • The Sorcerer, the Sorceress, Gnasty Gnorc and Ripto all are known to wield magical weapons that harness their powers.
  • His dragon form in the game gave inspiration to the character design of Malefor, the main antagonist in The Legend of Spyro series.
    • The Sorcerer is believed to be the classic Spyro version of Malefor, due to the fact that Shadow Legacy was created by the same story team behind The Legend of Spyro series, and his resemblance to Malefor in Dragon form.
  • If the player has Spyro agree to join the Sorcerer as his apprentice, the Sorcerer sneers at the thought of seeing the look on Tomas' face at Spyro's betrayal, but he rejects Spyro by deeming him too small and weak to be his apprentice.
