Trivia

  • In the the original Spyro games before Shadow Legacy, Purple Dragons weren't a major plot device. Several minor dragons from the first game were purple, namely Alban, Ragnar, Asher, Sadiki, and Azizi. Another dragon in the original Spyro: Year of the Dragon was also purple.
    • In the Spyro Reignited Trilogy portion of Spyro the Dragon, only Alban, Asher, Zander, Azizi, Claude, Kosoko are purple-scaled dragons; Zander and Kosoko being redesigned as such.
  • The statements surrounding purple dragons in Shadow Legacy is possibly what gave the producers of the Legend of Spyro trilogy the idea of implementing the legendary status of the Purple Dragon in the Legend reboot, as they were the ones who also worked on Shadow Legacy.
  • In Dungeons and Dragons 3.5, one of the rarest, if not most rare, dragon is the Purple Dragon, who believe themselves to be the lords of all dragonkind.
  • The colour purple is often associated with royalty, reinforcing the idea that purple dragons have a higher potential for magic.
