Spyro using his Wing Shield

The Wing Shield is an ability Spyro was given in Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly. After gaining the ability from the Spirit Dragon, it is activated by pressing L2 and R2 together after a certain event. Only one known enemy in the game, the Wizard Riptocs from the Thieves Den, can only be defeated by having their own magic spells turn back at them with Wing Shield.

In Spyro: A Hero's Tail, the Wing Shield is activated by Triangle after visiting Elder Titan in Cloudy Domain. The "Wing Shield" is merely a shield made up of Spyro's wings, which he hides behind. Spyro can then move (spin) around in a circle, on the spot, in the same "hiding away" position. The Wing Shield is only good for repelling certain enemy projectiles and it doesn't work against direct physical attacks.
