In The Legend of Spyro reboot, gems, also known as crystals, are a natural source for Dragons, who draw strength from them.

In Dawn of the Dragon, after being freed from the time crystal, Spyro and Cynder used a green gem cluster to recharge their magic. The Chronicler, through an illusion generated by the gem cluster, bestowed both dragons their respective elemental abilities. In the same game, there are a set number of Blue Gem Clusters in each level needed for 100% completion.

Location and uses

Around the world, there are crystal clusters that appear as one color, corresponding to the color gems they release: red for health, green for mana, blue for experience points, and purple for fury energy. Spirit gem clusters appear as iridiscent pink and release all types of gems when smashed. In all three games, each smaller colored gem gives a different benefit.

In the first two Legend of Spyro installments, defeated enemies drop every type of gem. In Dawn of the Dragon, they drop green gems based on how many hits Spyro or Cynder made in one combo.
