Spyro breathing ice

Ice is one of the elemental breaths that Spyro can gain. It is first obtained in Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! while in Cloud Temples as a power-up after defeating 21 enemies, where it is needed to complete a challenge. It is also granted temporarily by an Ice Fairy while in Frozen Altars, in Spyro: Year of the Dragon.

Ice Breath later became one of Spyro's main breath attacks in Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly, and reappeared in Spyro 2: Season of Flame and Spyro: A Hero's Tail.

Ice breath allows Spyro to freeze steam, turning it into an icicle that he can swing on when platforming. In combat, ice breath will freeze enemies and Spyro can either charge or use an offensive breath type to kill the frozen enemies. Killing armored gnorcs this way will remove the necessity of armor and also allows Spyro to defeat enemies that require electric breath must faster. Alongside Fire, ice breath is one of the two short-ranged breath types.
