Statue Glitch

The Statue Glitch is a glitch in The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon that renders Spyro and/or Cynder completely immobile. The glitch is performed by dropping a red crystal in front of a Dragon Statue in the Ruins of Warfang, then picking it up and activating the statue during the pickup animation. The result is that the dragon is now stuck in that position until either a cutscene plays or the other dragon dies.

Applications

At first glance, it may seem like this glitch has little use, or is even a detriment to the player. But once you consider that you can still switch between Spyro and Cynder, and that they are no longer bound to each other with the Snake Collars, its potential for exploitation becomes evident. By moving very far away and switching to the frozen dragon, the game will attempt to warp the free dragon behind the camera, instantly bringing them back to the entrance. This is useful for cutting down on backtracking when collecting the remaining crystals.

It is also possible to enter a softlock by performing the glitch with both dragons. After doing this, the only way to get unstuck is by restarting the level.
