*In the ''Reignited Trilogy'', the two [[Breezebuilder Parrot]]s on the bridge in the sowing seeds orb challenge area of Zephyr don't release spirit particles. Due to this, the final count in the ''Reignited Trilogy'' is 28 instead of the original 30.

Spirit Particles are items in Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! that resemble white, glowing orbs. Whenever Spyro defeats an enemy, their spirit particle is released. By collecting enough spirit particles, Spyro activates a powerup gate in the realm, allowing him to temporarily use a powerup in that area. Without having a sufficient number, the power-up gate displays a number to indicate how many Spirit Particles it needs to activate.

To find out the number of spirit particles you need to activate a powerup, simply visit the powerup, and if more particles are needed, the total number needed will be shown in between the the gate. The current number of spirit particles released is shown on the front cover of the Guidebook or by walking through an inactive powerup gate. Some spirit particles (such as the Colossus Yeti and the Draclets) are never seen but are included in the enemy count in the Guidebook.

In the original version of Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage, Spirit Particles needed to travel to a Powerup Gate before the gate can activate. In the Reignited Trilogy, Spirit Particles still fly to the gate, but the gate activates immediately upon defeating the required amount of enemies.
