The Professor opens the portal up once you have at least 25 Orbs.

Orb Challenges Description
Conquer Invading Cows Spyro must traverse through the level, killing off the invading cows. To get this orb, talk to the Inventor Droid.
Shoot down the Sheep Saucers I Spyro must use the double powerup and shoot the three sheep saucers out of the sky. The Inventor Droid will give the player an orb for proof of their skill.
Shoot down the Sheep Saucers II After defeating the first wave, the sheep send out a distress call and bring in five more sheep saucers. Spyro will then have to shoot them out of the sky also. The Inventor Droid will then give the player an orb to commemorate their victory.
Ox Bombing The Logistics Droid will tell Spyro that an ox took over their armory and they thought that freezing the walkway would keep animals out. He will then advise the player to use bombs against the ox to defeat it. The ox has a health meter bar, and when Spyro drains its bar, the Logistics Droid will give the player an orb, calling it visually pleasing.

Cutscenes

Opening Scene

A business droid is seen standing at a bus stop, waiting for the bus to come. At first, nothing exciting happens. But then a rocket is shown, and the droid looks at it, to see it is attached to a pig. He looks at the pig and the pig stares back, before they both stand together and wait for the bus to arrive.

Closing Scene

The scene is the same as the beginning. The business droid is at the bus stop, waiting for the bus to arrive. He realizes the bus isn't coming, and looks at his watch to realize he's running late. He walks in the middle of the road, and is suddenly, hit by the oncoming bus. The screen shows nothing except for the empty bus stop, before ending.

Trivia

  • Metropolis is paired with Robotica Farms. An early name for the realm, found in the data for the earliest demo build, was "Metropolis Spires". Similarly, Robotica Farms was to be called "Metropolis Acres".
  • A city that appeared in a few games in the Ratchet & Clank series was named after this realm.
  • The background in this realm is very similar to Artisans.
  • Metropolis' powerup gate only needs one Spirit Particle to activate it, the lowest of any level in the game (followed by Zephyr and Magma Cone, which need two). However, the gate cannot be reached while inactive as the Rocket Pigs blow themselves up when Spyro gets close. The inactive gate can only be seen if Spyro defeats an enemy and quickly returns to the first room and closely looks at the gate in the distance. In spite of that, the Inventor Droid has hidden dialogue if Spyro were to reach her without a single Particle, and won't award him the "Conquer invading cows" orb until an enemy is defeated. This dialogue is also present in the Reignited Trilogy.
  • This is the only level in the game to contain a combo power up gate. A combo powerup gate can be found once again in a side mission in the Fireworks Factory level in Spyro: Year of the Dragon, as well as in the Super Bonus Round in the same game.
  • The fodder in this level are incompletely hatched eggs with walking chicken feet sticking out, this resembles that of Sheldon from the comic strip U.S. Acres and animated TV series Garfield and Friends. In addition they share the same running and idle animation with the Snowballs from Crystal Glacier.
  • In Year of the Dragon, the Flying Sheep Saucers make several cameos exclusively in the Speedway. They also make a return in Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly, where they can be seen in Crop Circle Country, which is a farm-themed level full of barns, haystacks, and UFOs. It could possibly be homage to both Metropolis and Robotica Farms. However the NPCs in Crop Circle are the same farmers seen in Country Speedway.
