When Spyro approaches, Catbats spit fireballs as a defense. There is a section where several Catbats are waiting for Spyro and if he manages to defeat them all, it counts as a Skill Point.

Trivia

  • If Spyro flames a Catbat, it will yell out a cat-like shriek and its body will turn black from being singed before disappearing into a Spirit Particle.
  • In the original game, the Catbats have a more reptilian look, with only a few small feline features (e.g., their cat ears and yowls). Their Reignited form shows that they appear to be a bit bigger than originally, and their bat wings are smaller. • In Basil the Explorer's Faunus Mortas, there is a creature called Cattus Battus, which is most likely the original design for the Catbat.
