Story
Spyro the Dragon
It is mentioned by Mudada that fairies are always on the side of dragons in the Dragon Realms. There are a few types of fairies found in the game, all of whom assist Spyro along his journey.
- Red Fairies[1][2] assist Spyro by saving his game progress. They wear a red dress and have blonde hair. A Red Fairy can be found above a Crystal Dragon pedestal once Spyro has rescued the dragon that was imprisoned within the statue.
- Yellow Fairies[2] are a type of fairy that only appear in the level High Caves. Whenever Spyro falls into an endless abyss, he is immediately rescued by Yellow Fairies, who safely return him to land.
- Flame Fairies[2] temporarily grant Spyro the Superflame powerup by kissing him. They appear in High Caves and Haunted Towers.
- Whirlwind Fairies activate Whirlwinds (only in Lofty Castle)
- Arrow-Sign Fairies point Spyro in the right direction (Night Flight, Crystal Flight and Misty Bog)
Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!
In the second game installment, a new fairy ally named Zoe was introduced. Other fairies reside in the realm of Avalar when they helped Zoe scatter the Orbs around Avalar to keep them from getting into Ripto's hands.
Spyro: Year of the Dragon
According to the lore on the Year of the Dragon Festival, Fairies deliver new dragon eggs to the Dragon Realms every twelve years for the Year of the Dragon. In this game, the fairies help Spyro search for the eggs after they were abducted.
- Zoe retained her role in saving Spyro's progress.
- The Charmed Ridge fairy community will help Spyro along the way to save Princess Ami from the Cat Wizards. (Only in the Reignited version, in the original only Liz helps you along the way).
- Princess Ami will give Spyro a dragon egg if he keeps her secret.
- Isabelle will award Sgt. Byrd an egg for helping her.
- A special ice fairy named Gabrielle will temporarily grant Spyro the ability to breathe ice in the Frozen Altars world.
Spyro: Season of Ice
In Spyro: Season of Ice, fairies play a role in the main plot. Grendor has frozen all of the fairies, and Spyro goes on an adventure to rescue them. In the hub world, if Spyro jumps or glides above the surrounding water, fairy magic redirects him back onto the ground. This is similar to the Yellow Fairies from Spyro the Dragon. In this game, the main focus is all on the Fairies and their homeworld, the Fairy Realms. Here, Grendor has frozen all the fairies, and Spyro must unfreeze them. Each fairy's in-game sprite colors are based off the four seasons (Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer).
Spyro 2: Season of Flame
In Spyro 2: Season of Flame, fairy magic in the hub world once again protects Spyro from falling into the water. Unlike Spyro: Season of Ice, Spyro can glide above the water, and the fairy magic only rescues him if he is about to touch the water surface.
Spyro: Attack of the Rhynocs
The fairies, including Zoe, appear in the Fairy Library level.
Spyro: A Hero's Tail
Other fairies make their appearance in A Hero's Tail, including Zoe. After Spyro defeats a boss, they will free a fairy who will grant him an elemental power: Electricity, Water, and Ice.
Trina serves as the tutorial fairy in the game.
Spyro: Shadow Legacy
Fairies, including Zoe, live in the Treetops somewhere in Avalar.
Other game appearances
Skylanders franchise
Fairies make an appearance in Skylanders franchise. They had been friends with the Skylanders, possibly because fairies can turn treasure into upgrade magic that gives the Skylanders new abilities, powers, and also fresh breath.
One notable fairy, Persephone, upgrades your Skylanders' abilities for gold.
Crash Team Rumble
In Crash Team Rumble, fairies appear as common relic stations in the Artisans Arena map, granting the teams damage and defense boosts.

Trivia
- A Save Fairy might be one of Zoe's friends who removed the orbs from the Super Portal in Winter Tundra in the Reignited Trilogy.
- In the original Ripto's Rage!, Zoe mistakenly appears twice in said sequence. One of the Zoes were likely meant to be this fairy.
- There doesn't appear to be any male fairies, since all of them shown so far have been female.
- Despite the fairies carrying new dragon eggs to the Dragon Worlds every twelve years, in Spyro: Year of the Dragon, Zoe claims that they were too heavy for her and the other fairies to carry the eggs back from the Forgotten Worlds to the Dragon Realms.
